File and pass the Equal Protection Act
An Equal Protection Act would ensure that every human life is equally protected under the law, born and preborn, by repealing the provision that says abortion is not murder in Alabama.
Equal protection bills were filed in 2023 (HB 454) and 2025 (HB 518). Both died in committee. Lawmakers need to hear that Alabamians want it filed again.
Why it matters now
- Abortion pills ordered by mail are still ending lives in Alabama.
- Alabama law still makes an exception for abortion in its homicide laws.
- A bill can't pass unless a legislator files it.
